Resources for Parents

The following resources have been curated to help Latino/a/x parents of LGBTQ+ youth navigate important conversations surrounding acceptance and support of their child. We encourage you to use these resources, which include report, PDFs, infographics, and more, to navigate your journey in creating a safe and accepting environment for your child.

  • Somos Familia Bay
    • Somos Familia Bay is an all-volunteer group of different generations, with the mission of creating support and acceptance for Latine lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning youth and their families. Somos creates impressive and innovative resources about the LGBTQ Latine community including multiple video series on family acceptance
  • El Amor Hace Familia (Love Makes a Family)
    • A loving, hybrid group of parents and LGBTQ people that have come together for mutual support. The group meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. at Oasis Community Center in NYC and allows for virtual participation. The group uses primarily Spanish but flexibly uses English and Spanglish too. All are welcome despite geographic location
  • GSA Network
    • A Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Network that supports young people in starting, strengthening, and sustaining GSAs and builds the capacity of GSAs to create safe environments in schools for students to support each other and learn about homophobia, transphobia, and other oppressions
