Volunteers

Caminar Latino serves as a training and research site for university graduate and undergraduate students and provides individuals with hands-on experience working with Latino families impacted by domestic violence. Caminar Latino volunteers come from different disciplines including psychology, law, social work, accounting, and marketing. In addition to the expertise they bring to Caminar Latino, volunteers for Caminar Latino are trained to understand the unique realities and concerns of Latino communities in Atlanta and to cultivate skills to work with underserved groups within the broader Latino community recognizing that Latinos are not homogenous and that all survivors have unique strengths and challenges. All direct service volunteers are required to make a 6 month commitment but the average amount of time volunteers stay with Caminar Latino is two years. Thanks to the tremendous support Caminar Latino receives from the local community, between 35-50 dedicated provide approximately 4,000 hours per year of in-kind support.
