Create a safety plan for themselves and their children
An increase in knowledge about domestic violence, legal rights, resources, and safety
An increase in healthy relationship, parenting, and safety skills
An increase in self-esteem/ self-worth/ confidence/ sense of agency
An increased comfort in utilization of resources (e.g. legal, educational, housing)
Youth Program Participants:
Youth 7 years and above will have an individualized safety plan made in partnership with their mother detailing what they should do if violence occurs in their house
An increase in knowledge of violence and safety skills
An increase in non-violent problem solving, coping, and emotional awareness skills
An decrease in their sense of shame and increase in self-confidence by seeing other children in similar situations
Men's Program Participants:
90% of families with man in attendance will report cessation of physical violence and removal of firearms within 2 weeks of entering the program
An increase in knowledge about domestic violence
An increase in knowledge about the effects of violence
An understanding of the mechanisms through which they learned to be violent
An willingness to take responsibility for their violence,
An decrease in their abusive attitudes towards their families
An increase in knowledge about the effects of their risky behaviors for themselves, families, and communities
Parenting Program
Parents will increase knowledge about culturally appropriate parenting practices, including effective discipline strategies for different developmental stages.
