Caminar Latino is proud to announce its partnership with Sesame Street Community. Jessica Nunan, Executive Director, has been asked to join an advisory committee for Sesame Street Community, an online hub for sharing Sesame Street’s free educational resources with the adults in children’s lives. Utilizing her 22 years of experience working with families affected by violence, Nunan will counsel on Sesame Street’s latest project: Children and Trauma.
In addition, Nunan will lend her input on another upcoming project focused on coping skills and activities for children impacted by immigration: Care, Cope, Connect. Both resources will be available through the Sesame Street website, www.sesamestreet.org/toolkits, later this year.
This most recent partnership reflects on Caminar Latino’s belief in the importance and impact of community partnerships. Over Caminar Latino’s 27-year history, one of the main lessons the organization has learned is the value of community partnerships. Through these partnerships, Caminar Latino is able to exponentially expand the reach of its services by supporting the community members from partner agencies. In addition, such collaborations create opportunities for cross training, where individuals and organizations are able to learn more about each other’s work and the issues that affect families within their communities.
